Transition Exhibition
The Transition Exhibition was held at Stoddart's Cottage on February 21 and 28 and showcased the major challenges of our times - peak oil, industrial agriculture, climate change, destruction of natural biodiversity and resilient landscapes - and outlined some of the solutions that the Transition Harbour Project has started working on. These include:
- growing food organically close to home
- providing services to each other for free via the Time Bank
- saving money and fuel by sharing rides.
Lots of veggie seedlings were given away, a whole lot of new members joined THP, and good discussions were had about how we can live better by sourcing more of what we need locally.
A list of books in the Canterbury Public Library on the topics of peak oil, climate change, and how to make a positive transition to more sustainable (and caring) communities, was prepared for the Exhibition, and you can get a copy sent to you by emailing Christine or go here.
